Writing & Theater Workshops

The Art of Writing, will teach our participants how to articulate what they want to write about from
brain and mouth on to paper. Our youth tend to write as they speak which does not work in the class
room unless the task is to write in your spoken vernacular. Teaching our youth to write skits and plays
will open up the world of creative writing and expression to young people. Teaching youth to put their
emotions on paper, re-work what they’ve written, create characters and possibly publish their work is
important to develop a sense of ownership. In addition to the creative writing component there would
be an introduction to acting that what expose young people to the process of acting and auditioning for
roles. Cursive is a fundamental part of learning penmanship that teaches young adults to sign their
name. This is a part of penmanship that has been removed from the elementary curriculum that is
disturbing. Our goal is to ensure our youth can sign contracts, employment documents, bank
documents for loans, their Driver License/Passport/Social Security cards and more.

T.R.I.P.S.

(Time Related Introspective Peeks at Society)

Twice a year we would like to plan a family day trip to visit historical sites in the south that
teach the history of the south and where black children and families fit in the society we live in.
This trip is geared toward going back in TIME to look at events RELATED to this we are
experiencing today and taking an INTROSPECTIVE PEEK at SOCIETY of our past and present so
we can create a better future.
